Less than three months to go until ENLOCE, the major meeting of Chile’s logistics and port industry. The fair, organized by Puerto Valparaiso in conjunction with the Logistics Forum of Valparaiso (FOLOVAP) and produced by FISA, seeks to be a space to address the relevant issues that condition the growth of international trade and the opportunity to visualize the future of this activity.
The president of FOLOVAP, who is also the regional director of Chilean Customs, Braulio Cubillos, indicated that this is “an effort to highlight the role of each link in the logistics chain. It is a demonstration of the importance of the collaborative work of each participant in the development and growth of international trade”, highlighting the strategic relevance of the event.
International trade “directly or indirectly affects all citizens, which is why we believe it is very important for this event to have a broad scope. It is important for the community to know and value the impact it has on our country, as well as its challenges and opportunities. They should not perceive it as a foreign activity, but on the contrary, they should feel that they are part of it”, said Cubillos.
The participants in the event are companies that make up the operators whose activity allows the import and export of goods, together with the public institutions involved in the control and inspection of such goods. Cubillos said that “This event reflects a community of actors whose activity is fundamental for the international trade of our country, willing to contribute to its projection and improvement”.
Several novelties are expected for this version. On the one hand, the organization seeks to continue the industry’s efforts to adopt environmentally sustainable technology and practices. On the other, it is key to show the progress and efforts made to prevent and control the phenomenon of organized crime. In this regard, Cubillos said he firmly believes that “it is necessary to be aware of the risk to which we are exposed and in many cases to commit ourselves to taking an active role in improving the security of our operations.
The Valparaíso Passenger Terminal, venue of this version of ENLOCE, is also highlighted by the organizers as one of the great attractions of the fair: “The fact that this event is being held in Valparaíso also has a great significance. It is betting on the growth of this port and highlighting its role as a place where innovation is promoted”.
